Logging in and using Techsmith (Camtasia) Relay on IMS machines
Note: This tutorial demonstrates how to use the software available for lecture capture after you have logged on. For reference for logging on please, see our Logging in/out of Windows 10 on IMS Machines guide.
- Click the Start button on the bottom left of the screen [Figure 1].

- Type Techsmith Relay into the Search bar of the start menu [Figure 2].

- Open the Techsmith Relay software by clicking the link. Use your NetID as the username and your password for your NetID as the account password. Additionally, you can also use the software as a guest. Just click the guest button to continue to the software application [Figure 3].

- Once you are logged in you can then proceed to utilize the screen capture ability of the software. When ready press the record icon and the GUI will minimize automatically to allow you to start recording. Note: the “Audio Input Level indicator will only register volume coming from the mic [Figure 4].

- During a recording, one can use the toolbar to adjust the settings of the recording and end the recording [Figure 5].

- After you end the recording, it will automatically bring up a recording preview. If the recording is satisfactory it can then be uploaded to your online account utilizing the submit button [Figure 6].

- After submitting the recording, you can go to your account here: capture.tamu.edu. Log in with your NetID and password again [Figure 7].

- An alternate software to TechSmith Relay for screen capture purposes is Camtasia Studio. To open the software follow the same steps outlined for TechSmith [Figure 8].

- To start a screen capture press the record button in the top left of the GUI. This will minimize Camtasia Studio to a toolbar in the bottom right of the screen. This toolbar can be utilized to adjust capture settings and navigate the recording [Figure 9].

- After you end the recording, it will automatically bring up a recording preview. If the recording is satisfactory it can then be saved utilizing the save button in the bottom right of the screen [Figure 10].

The file directory for the recording can be adjusted using the file explorer that comes up after clicking save. Within the file explorer browse for the file location that is desired [Figure 11].

Note: For both software applications, it is recommended that you ensure that the desired recording device is selected. This can be achieved as follows:
- Right click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of your screen.
2. Select recording devices. Choose the appropriate recording device that you are using.
